Your files

Files dropped into GotConvert never leave your device. The conversion happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly and the Canvas API. We do not see, store, transmit, or have any way to access your files. This is the strongest privacy guarantee we make and it does not change.

Your browsing

Visiting GotConvert is treated like any other website: we know which pages were viewed and from roughly which region, but not who viewed them. Specifically:

  • Cloudflare edge logs (the network logs Cloudflare keeps for every site behind it) retain request metadata — URL, referrer, IP — briefly for security and abuse prevention. The aggregated daily traffic counts we see in our dashboard come from these logs. No JavaScript beacon is loaded in your browser for this.
  • Cloudflare Bot Fight Mode runs a short challenge script (/cdn-cgi/challenge-platform/…) that detects scrapers and bots. It does not identify you across other websites.
  • We do not use Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel for site analytics. (Google AdSense is a cross-site advertising network — see Advertising below.)

Advertising

GotConvert is free. To stay free without paywalls or signups, we display ads via Google AdSense. When AdSense is loaded:

  • Google's ad scripts load and may set advertising cookies. You'll see a consent banner (Google Consent Mode v2) before any non-essential cookies are set, and you can decline ad personalization.
  • AdSense sees the page URL and your browsing context. It does not see your file — the file is never uploaded anywhere, including to Google.
  • You can opt out of personalized ads at adssettings.google.com.
  • An ad blocker is fine — every conversion tool works with or without ads loaded.

Cookies

We do not set first-party cookies. Once AdSense is enabled (see above), Google may set advertising cookies subject to your consent banner choice. Cloudflare may set a session cookie for security challenges if you trigger one (e.g., when traffic looks automated).
